The American Dance Center Ballet is a not-for-profit regional company in residence at the American Dance Center School in Orland Park and Homewood. Founded in 1971, the Center has established an individualized curriculum for pre-dance to advanced levels with a professional faculty and support staff. Dancers are auditioned annually and perform with international dance soloists under the guidance of director Jack Villari and choreographers, Kathleen Villari and Maria Villari Joll. Serving as a springboard for gifted area dancers, it bridges the gap between classroom studies and professional theater. Its main goal is to develop professional level performances and cultural opportunities in the area. It has arranged prestigious cultural exchange programs. Guest artists have included soloists from the famed Bolshoi Ballet of Russia, New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theater, Joffrey Ballet, National Ballet of Canada, Stuttgart Ballet, Royal Winnipeg Ballet and Kirov Ballet. The company's 23-year run of the full-length production Hansel and Gretel became the area's longest-running, original ballet. Holiday Fantasy, a unique dinner/show experience premiered in 2000 and has created its own holiday tradition. As Chicago Southland's resident ballet company, it has been described as "a cultural gem, and one fine art's treasure, of which the entire region should be justly proud."
